GRAND ROUNDS
A newborn baby girl with birth weight of 2.8 kg is referred for further management. The father was diagnosed to be HIV infected 3 years back and is on antiretroviral therapy. The mother was tested HIV at 7 months of gestation and was HIV negative, and not on any treatment. Baby was born vaginally and was otherwise normal. On examination, no abnormality was detected.

Q. Hi I have a 9yr old girl with PCP very hypoxic on presentation despite oxygen. She has responded very well to high dose trimetoprim and prednisolone. Clinical much improved. However after 3 weeks of treatment is still very oxygen dependant dropping O2 sat to 75 on room air 96 on 40 face mask. What is the usual length of O2 dependancy should I be looking or thinking of something else or just be patient Tx
